WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE TURKIC CULTURE AND HERITAGE FOUNDATION, AN INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC ROUND TABLE ENTITLED “GLOBAL AND LOCAL DISCOURSES IN THE FINE ARTS OF TURKIC PEOPLES” WAS HELD
On May 6, 2026, an international scientific round table titled “Global and Local Discourses in the Fine Arts of Turkic Peoples” was held at the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art. The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art with the support of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and the Yunus Emre Institute.
The event brought together prominent art historians, museum directors, and researchers from Turkic states, who discussed the integration of the common Turkic artistic heritage into contemporary world art, as well as issues related to the preservation of national identity.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Professor Aktoty Raimkulova, emphasized that works of art are not only examples of individual creativity, but also an important reflection of identity, embodying an entire society and its history.
The opening ceremony also featured speeches by Director of the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art, PhD in Art Studies, Associate Professor Shirin Melikova, and Azerbaijan Coordinator of the Yunus Emre Institute Gokhan Seyhan, who highlighted the significance of the event.
Within the framework of the round table, participants from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan delivered academic presentations dedicated to the synthesis of traditional artistic styles with contemporary visual language, as well as models for representing artists of the Turkic world on international platforms.
At the conclusion of the event, membership certificates of the TÜRKSOY Museum Union were presented to several leading museums of Azerbaijan. A ceremonial opening of the exhibition “Dialogue of Cultures: Azerbaijan – Kazakhstan” was also held.
